Episode 183: Approaching the King

This week, Josh and Dietrich sit down to discuss the sometimes daunting task of figuring out where to begin your exploration of the works of Stephen King. It's no secret that these two are fans of King's work, and they jump into the challenge eagerly, discussion which books are best for those trying King for the first time, which are good for someone who likes his writing but aren't sure about horror, those that will work best for a reader that wants horror that will take a bite out of them, and more. The pair don't agree on every category, but they definitely agree that whatever you might be looking for, King has something that will make you smile. In addition, Dietrich discusses an excellent graphic novel about gods becoming pop stars, Josh raves about a book adaptation of, believe it or not, a podcast, and they read an email from a listener that takes exception of their dismissal of the book Dreamcatcher and its abundance of rectal-dwelling weasels. They wrap the show up with a discussion of the television adaptation of one of their favorite trilogies of all time, the rebirth of a nostalgic science fiction classic, and a wheeling and dealing board game. Finally, every one of us in the Library Police family would like to congratulate cohost Rachel Stiles and producer Jacob Stiles on the birth of Oliver, their new baby son. He's less than a month old, and he already thinks that Dan Brown is formulaic. If you have questions or comments, you can reach us at librarypolicequestions@gmail.com.
