Episode 180: Fifty Shades of Thanksgiving

Picture
This week, the trio sits down to discuss what in the publishing and book industry they are thankful for. Dietrich talks about the resurgence of the small, private bookstore, and how these small businesses are popping up to fill the void left by the collapsing big book retailers. Rachel discusses short fiction, and the resurgence in short stories fueled by e-readers and digital distribution. Josh talks about the massive spike in the quality of book adaptations, both in television and in film. In addition, the trio get a pair of emails chiming in on the last book club selection, Dietrich reads three superb books, Josh discusses a classic novel that puts the lie to the claim that classics are dull, and Rachel continues reading a bizarre take on a classic story. Finally, Dietrich talks about a reality show that seems to contradict everything done in reality shows, Josh raves about a concert done by a storytelling band, and Rachel does her best to make Dietrich fume with anger at not having the chance yet to play Fallout 4. You can send questions and comments to us by utilizing our Contact Us form.
