Episode 163: Goodbye, Sir Terry Pratchett

Picture
This week, Josh and Dietrich sit down to talk about the works of a brilliant author the world lost last week, Terry Pratchett. One of their favorite authors, Terry Pratchett set a standard for hilarity, depth, and brilliance in his writing that has no equal. The pair talk about the first Pratchett books that they ever encountered, the books of his that have spoken to them, and the amazing influence that the author of the Discworld series has had on an entire generation of writers. Josh raves about the brilliant Tiffany Aching series, Dietrich talks about the staggering evolution seen in the Watch series, and they laugh about a rat Death with a tiny cowl and scythe. In addition, Dietrich reads a collection of Mary Roach short essays, and Josh discusses the second book in a dark Lovecraftian series. The pair wrap up with a documentary about a sushi restaurant, a goofy comedy about vampires, Josh discusses a pair of video games, and Dietrich enthuses about a board game convention featuring post-apocalyptic cannibals, insanely designed castles, and unforgiving pirates. You can send questions and comments to us by utilizing our Contact Us form.
