Episode 159: An Interview with J. Zachary Pike

Picture
This week, Josh and Dietrich sit down with the author of Orconomics, J. Zachary Pike. Zach talks to us about the process of self publishing, the path he took to writing a book, and his deep abiding love of outlining. He talks about infusing his love of tabletop gaming, Terry Pratchett, and Douglas Adams into a story that deals with topics ranging from economic speculation, narcotics addiction, and class warfare. In addition, Dietrich raves about a John Connolly book that comes much closer to horror than much of Connolly's normal fare, Josh discusses a historical fiction book that uses an antihero in a truly unique role, and the trio start a new challenge based around Dietrich's teenage daughter Emily. Finally, they wrap up the episode with a discussion of the replacement for the Colbert Report, a controversial new movie, and Dietrich and Rachel talk about their recent foray into the most rarefied of nerd air: Dungeons and Dragons.   You can send questions and comments to us by utilizing our Contact Us form.
