Episode 153: Noir Fiction

While at Killer Nashville, Josh and Dietrich got the opportunity to host a panel on noir fiction, and decided that the topic deserved attention as a full episode. They discuss the definition of noir fiction, and begin to break down the individual elements that make noir the dark and unique genre that it is. Josh discusses some of the authors at the forefront of this genre, and what they do to stand out from a rapidly increasing crowd. Dietrich talks about some of the intriguing genre-blending that dips into noir fiction, and suggests a few titles that may fit noir elements without obviously falling into that category. In addition, the pair discuss a book by an old favorite of theirs, as well as Dietrich raving about a suggestion of Josh's. Finally, they wrap up with Dietrich discussing his highlights of the new fall television series, Josh looking at the latest iteration in one of the pair's favorite video game franchises, and wrap up with a discussion of the Mauthe family visiting the happiest place on earth.
