Episode 123: Serialization with special guest Eyre Price
More and more, it seems as if novels can no longer stand on their own, but must be part of a trilogy or series or epic anthology. This is a trend that has frustrated Dietrich and Josh for quite a while, and it's clear they aren't alone, as they are joined by author Eyre Price to discuss the recent surge in the popularity of serial novels. Is it driven by publishers? Authors? Readers? A secret cabal? The trio discuss all of these theories (well, maybe not the last one) and more, including the influence that comic books have had on the trend and how we see it spilling over into other mediums. Before that, there's a discussion of Stephen King's newest book (with a bit of disagreement), Dietrich revisits a recently departed favorite, and they round out with a discussion of one of the most intense films of the last few years.
