Episode 112: The Gateway Books
There are plenty of authors that Josh and Dietrich recommend, but some of them have such a daunting catalog and loom so far above the rest of their comrades that it can be intimidating to figure out where to start. The Library Police have galloped to the rescue, tackling some of the giants of modern publishing and offering their pair of pennies as to the best place to get started. From Stephen King to Lee Child, Terry Pratchett to Dennis Lehane, they touch on some of the best introductions, disagreeing on some and unquestioning in others. They even split away, discussing some of their individual favorites and where to sink your teeth into. In addition, Dietrich yields to his brother's advice and discovers the brilliant and hilarious David Sedaris, while Josh reads a short story collection offered up as a tribute to a legendary horror author.
