Josh Mauthe spends his days molding the future grammar Nazis of our country, and his evenings scrambling over the rooftops of Nashville. It's really tough to get parking at the Belcourt, after all.  He brings the more literary perspective to the podcast, having read nearly every book that rests on a dusty shelf in an abandoned basement.  He's also our resident expert on all the movies you've never heard of, either because they were made in another country, another decade, or because he makes up 25% of their audience.  Josh runs his own website, Umney's Alley, where you can see hundreds of reviews of books and movies stretching back over years.
At the age of seven, Dietrich was thrown out of a Little League game for reading a Star Trek book in the outfield.   From that moment on, his path through life, one far afield from sports glory, was set.  His adult life has seen him tweaking nuclear reactors, studying journalism and economics, writing articles about video games and refrigerators, and publishing a novel that saw impressively mediocre sales.  Hey, his mom loved it.  Dietrich constantly tries to keep the podcast on a more pedestrian level, enjoying books and movies that Josh wouldn't touch with a twenty foot pole (usually for good reason. Transformers 2? Really?).

The first occasional guest who got upgraded to a full co-host, Christopher Merchant first met Dietrich in a creative writing class, and the two bonded quickly. Now that he’s part of the podcast, Chris brings a love of William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, and a little guy named Joseph Campbell that you might hear him mention once or twice. A minute. In other words, Chris brings some more valid literary love than Dietrich and Josh do, balancing out their populism with a hint of class and hipsterism that keeps us honest. As for his life outside the podcast, Chris co-hosts another podcast called Game Logic alongside our producer Larry Sterlingshires and plays a lot of video games. But don’t worry. He’s still a child at heart. A weird, creepy child.

Born of fire, brimstone, and some kind of by-product of fairies, Larry Sterlingshires is simply biding his time until he can unleash his diabolical machination. Disguising as the editor, producer, and social media coordinator of the Library Police and Game Logic, Larry has been communicating those plans to his minions through the podcast Facebook posts. So why do we let this continue? Well, wouldn't you be curious to see what happens? In his free time he enjoys long walks on the beach, working to perfect his recipe for pickled Penrose-style sausage, and curling up in front of the fire for some Fabio-style romance reading. Hey, every evildoer has his soft spots...
